Inspection Division

The Inspection Division of the City of Missouri City is charged with: Permits - Providing a means for reviewing and approving plans to assure compliance with minimum standards for building construction.

Mission Statement

The Inspection Division shall ensure through quality inspections that all construction in Missouri City meets nationally accepted codes and standards in order to protect life and property. It will also obtain the necessary code compliance on new and existing buildings to ensure public health and safety.

Description of Operations

The Inspection Division is directly supervised by the Chief Building Official who in turn reports to the Director of Planning. The Division issues all building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and MCI permits along with electrical licenses, zoning, and flood plain administration. The Division serves as an information center for the public regarding codes and other related ordinances. The staff also provides information regarding building setbacks, building code requirements, business occupancy requirements, health standards, signage, architecture, and landscape regulations.
