Code Enforcement

Mission Statement

The Code Enforcement Division shall provide and coordinate various services to citizens. The code enforcement section shall provide nuisance code enforcement to ensure high maintenance standards; shall work with citizens and homeowner associations in addressing violations through proactive and reactive code enforcement; provide housing inspections during change of occupancy in residential structures; and enforce locally adopted zoning laws and city codes to improve the quality of life in Missouri City . The Health Inspection Section shall ensure the health and safety of the public through educational information, providing training, and the enforcement of State and local health codes. The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Section shall meet the three basic goals of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This includes improving safety and livability of neighborhoods, increasing access to quality facilities and services, revitalizing deteriorating neighborhoods, and conserving energy resources.

Description of Operations

The Community Development Coordinator reports to the Director of Planning and directly supervises the Code Enforcement Division. The Code Enforcement Division shall provide zoning and nuisance enforcement, residential housing inspections, health inspections and training, and the implementation and coordination of all projects carried out utilizing Community Development Block Grant funds. The Code Enforcement Division shall provide informational resources to the public, respond to public requests for assistance, ensure the safety of residential structures during change of occupancy, shall inspect all food establishments to assure proper handling, storage, and preparation of food being offered for consumption, and provide food protection management training to all food establishments.
