Wesley J. Vela

Wes Vela joined the City of Missouri City as Director of Finance in 2003. He has served as Finance Director with other Texas municipalities since 1990. He has also worked for the Texas Comptroller's Office, a Certified Public Accounting firm, and private business.

His professional affiliations include memberships with the Texas City Management Association, Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada, Government Finance Officers Association of Texas and the Texas Society of CPAs. As Missouri City's financial officer, Vela has received yearly the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

A graduate of the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, he is a certified public accountant licensed by the State of Texas and is a Certified Public Manager, having completed his training at Southwest Texas University in San Marcos.
